Ok, friends and family, I'm going to be working towards something over the next few months. I have been busy getting my best material and writing new jokes for something that I'm both extremely excited about and a little nervous. I want to record a standup comedy show in a theater (The Capitol Theatre in Charleston, West Virginia, to be exact). I need a huge crowd, so I need to keep the event free.
This is where you come in. I'm going to be setting up an event and doing some crowd fundraising over the next few months, because video recording and high quality editing is expensive. As is the advertising to get the word out to everybody. All told, this event is going to cost me around $2,500. I don't know about you all, but I do not have $2,500 just laying around. If I did, I would just put the show on.
For this show, I'm going to get the best comedians West Virginia has to offer to work with me and put on a dynamite show for the people in attendance. I would love to encourage all my fans, friends, and relatives to go ahead and plan to be in Charleston on January 28th, 2017. In supporting me, hopefully we can show the world how funny West Virginia can be, and then I'll do my part of the show and put it up on YouTube for anybody and everybody to watch as much as you'd like.
I've had a lot of support from people over the years, and I can't tell you how much I appreciate it. This is going to be my baby for the next 9 months (funny how that timing worked out). I'm putting all the spare time I have into this show, and actually have a few surprises for my performance. I even have a new bit that will include a prop! I've never experimented with props, but I'm excited to use this one here.
Be on the look out for anything that says Lee Hale Comedy and High Octane, which the name of the show could change between now and then. With the creation of this show, and putting everything on YouTube, it will also cause me to write all new material for afterwards, so be sure to check out my Facebook page (www.facebook.com/comedianleehale) for possible previews as I break out the bits for this show at local open mic nights! Plus, just go to local open mic nights and support the new comedians that are trying to break out just like I am!
